The Story
The caduceus — two serpents coiled around a winged staff — is one of the oldest symbols of mediation in Western tradition. Carried by Hermes, the messenger who moved between the world of the living and the dead, it represented the capacity to navigate opposites: commerce and spirit, healing and harm, the mortal and the divine. The staff did not belong to one world. It moved between them.
This pendant places that symbol at the center of a coin face alongside a wolf in a mountain landscape, maple leaf, and the inscription Cultivating Altruism. The combination is not accidental — the wolf as pack animal, the caduceus as bridge between worlds, the mountains as the terrain that demands something real from the people who cross them. Each piece is hand-cut and individually polished.
What It Represents
The Caduceus
The two serpents represent duality in balance — opposing forces that do not cancel each other out, but coil together into something functional. The wings above suggest elevation: the capacity to rise above the conflict between opposites and move freely between them.
The Wolf
The wolf is the oldest symbol of loyalty through difficulty — an animal that survives not through solitude but through the integrity of the pack. It does not perform its commitment. It lives it.
