Soviet Coin Ring – USSR Lenin Centenary Commemorative Band Ring

Minted in 1970. Still carrying weight.
In 1970, the Soviet Union issued a commemorative coin marking the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin’s birth. It was not a rare coin — millions were struck, distributed across the USSR, passed through hands in factories, markets, and apartments from Vladivostok to Leningrad. What made it significant was not its scarcity but its ubiquity: this was an object that an entire civilization held in common, a small metal disc that carried the weight of an ideology, an era, and a particular way of understanding history.
This ring is made from one of those coins. The Cyrillic inscription — «СТО ЛЕТ СО ДНЯ РОЖДЕНИЯ», one hundred years from the day of birth — wraps the band exactly as it appeared on the original coin. The oxidized black finish is not applied to obscure the source material. It is applied to deepen it: to make the lettering more legible, the surface more present, the object more clearly something that has been through time and arrived here still intact.
If you’re drawn to rings with historical weight and the aesthetic of objects that carry a past, this is the one that comes with a documented history already attached.
Design Highlights
- Formed from an authentic USSR Lenin centenary commemorative coin (1970)
- Cyrillic inscription preserved on the band exterior — «СТО ЛЕТ СО ДНЯ РОЖДЕНИЯ»
- Oxidized black finish — deepens the lettering contrast, worn-in presence
- Smooth polished inner band — comfortable for daily wear
- Wide band profile — substantial weight on the hand
The Object
Coin rings occupy a specific place in the history of wearable objects — they are not jewelry made to look like something. They are something, reshaped into jewelry. The coin that became this ring was legal tender in a country that no longer exists, issued to commemorate a figure whose legacy remains contested, struck in a metal that has outlasted the ideology it once represented. None of that history disappears when the coin becomes a ring. It moves with it. The Cyrillic text on your finger is not decoration. It is a primary source.
Material & Craft
- Formed from an original USSR commemorative coin — the source material is the object
- Oxidized black finish — shadow built into the lettering, not something you forget is there
- Smooth interior — worn-in comfort for daily use
- Each ring carries the natural variation of its source coin

RING SIZE GUIDE
Find your perfect fit — before the ring finds you.
01
Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of string. Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger.
02
Mark the point where the paper or string overlaps with a pen. This marks your finger's circumference.
03
Lay your string flat and measure the distance between the marks in millimeters.

OPEN BAND RINGS
Select Veilhinge rings feature an open band design and can be gently adjusted ±1 size from their original shipped size for a comfortable fit. To avoid metal fatigue, we recommend minimal and gradual adjustment — do not bend the band back and forth repeatedly.
SIZING TIPS
Measure at the end of the day — fingers are slightly larger then, giving you the most comfortable fit.
If you're between sizes, size up for a more comfortable wear.
Knuckle larger than the base of your finger? Measure both and choose a size in between.
