THE STORY
The Mexican Cinco Pesos honored Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor and a lasting symbol of resistance. This coin reimagines his portrait as a skull while preserving the elaborate feathered headdress and the distinctive Cinco Pesos inscriptions surrounding it. The transformation turns a historical portrait into a memento mori without erasing the identity behind it. The Morgan eagle remains preserved on the reverse.
